Rio de Janeiro City Christmas tree world's largest floating
According to the Guinness Book of Records the largest tree Christmas floating world is located in the South American country Brazil, the capital city of Rio de Janeiro. This tree is as tall as a 28-storey and attracts 80,000 tourists in a single day. The lighting of the tree 280 feet high was completed in the first days of each December to celebrate the Christmas party. The design of this tree is created by Brazilian designer Abel Gomes, and sponsored by Bradesco Seguros e Previdência. This display of Christmas trees generates 11 sequential patterns, illuminated at 2.9 million miniature lamps, 52 kilometers of wires and 1,600 lights flashing strobe lights to produce a star effect. Also Fireworks are scheduled for every Saturday.

This is the largest floating Christmas tree in the world according the Guinness Book of Records, Thousands of people gathered on the opening day on Saturday. It is considered the third major event in the city Ofri de Janeiro, after Carnival and New Year. An electronic carillon, imported from Italy and similar to that used in St. Peter's Basilica at the Vatican, has been installed within its structure to play songs Christmas with hand bells played by professional ringers. The project has become the largest event sponsored by a single private company in Brazil. This is the 13th edition of the Christmas Tree of Bradesco Seguros e Previdência, which for the first time shall consist of thirteen sequences of flashing different images to dazzle the public.

According to Guinness World Records is the largest floating Christmas tree in the world because of the height of 85 meters in 2007 and registered in the recently published 2009 edition. With its launch in 1996, the tree was 48 feet tall and up to the 2006 edition of 82 meters. The first certification was awarded the Guinness Book in 1999, when this symbol of Christmas measured 76 meters.
