pro tools question, how to get the best sound quality with what i have.?
im using pro tools, Rode NTK mic, and a Eureka PreSonus pre amp. i know how to work these pretty good but i think i can get a better sound, not sure what the problem is either.
When ever people record there P's and B's POP, i do have a pop blocker for my mic too.
is there certain plug ins i need to use to get a better sound?
as of right now i use the compressor plug in, sounds way better then the original sound but i know there has to be a better sound i can get.
any ideas?

Do some reading on equalization (EQ to his friends) and see if you can track down a multiband compressor that works with Pro Tools (I assume it supports VSTs but I honestly have never looked it up). Multiband compression is good for de-essing (taking the overblown hiss out of your 's') and sometimes for reining in pops, although if you've already got a pop screen then you might just need people to back up off the mic (6 to 10 inches for soft singing/speaking/whispering on most mics; further away for loud bellowing). That will also minimize or eliminate an ugly phenomenon called proximity effect where you start getting more bass as people sing louder.
Equalization is how you can shape the sound that you've got into something more aesthetically pleasing. For vocals you can use EQ to shave off low frequencies that don't help the part and can muddy things up for other sounds. You can even use peak/dip EQ to clean up esses and pops if you like. That's how I've done it for some of the vocal tracks I've worked with.
