What program can I use to edit synth patches?

I have an Alesis Micron and a Mini Mac. How much would a legit program cost? Also, Im still confused with the MIDI cable deal. I went to radio shack and all they had were 5 PIN DIN Male to 5 PIN DIN Male and I'm pretty sure my Mini Mac doesn't have those inserts. Do I still buy this to edit my synth patches on my Mac? Or do I have to buy MIDI USB cables?

I'm not too sure what's out there to edit your Micron. But I can confirm that you should buy a MIDI to USB cable to connect it to your Mac.
