Help with iPod touch plug in microphone?

I got a mini microphone that plugs into my iPod touch. It goes into the headphone jack, but When it's plugged in it treats it like headphones so I can't hear. I need to hear while it's in for skype and sip please help.

The mini-microphones that plug into the headphone jack don't work for things like Skype. The only thing that will allow your iPod Touch to work with Skype are headphones with microphones built in.
