good recording mic under $400?

I have a macbook pro using logic 9. I have the apogee duet. I have two SM57 mics and they just dont seem to cut it. Maybe im using them wrong but i still get static when i record. I want to record vocals, accoustic guitar, banjo, dobro, mandolin, upright bass. people say that a condenser mic is the best? why?

Condenser mics are best for recording because they adjust to the vibrations in the air and create almost no noise, where as dynamic mics are all to easily given to feedback and distortion. Of course there are better things out there for recording but condenser mics will give you the sound you want for a reasonable price. Try the CAD GXL3000, you can find those at guitar center for under $200, it's a great microphone, and will work great for both vocals and instrument recording.
