The wedding photography – kit?
Hello, I did photography in college and have a good working knowledge of it. However, someone I have been offered a large sum of money to make their wedding photos. I have a Nikon D80 and large solid tripod. I was thinking of buying a second hand Metz flash (style hammer) and an advantage of the timing and trigger cable. The main idea of this was that when taking pictures, I'll have a better source of light for photographs with a village just a few, I also have a long strechy shoe adapter so that you keep the flash at a different angle than directly from the camera. I just wanted to see that this would be the proper equipment to use for work? Any information is welcome, no matter how irrelevant. The Metz flash was also part of my thinking in this direction, as yet I think it has built-in flash on the D80 was cut?
The "masher Metz flashes were the staple of wedding photographers until the revolution digital. Now we all want CLS Nikon or Canon, Ettl. I'd say there's nothing wrong with Metz and D80. I shot with my D70s events and a Sunpak 555 (although I have now migrated to the D300 and SB-800 and 900). suggest RAW (Raw Rules! ") to give greater flexibility in the corners of settings, and view histogram for blown highlights (activate the "Blinky" review). You did not mention the lenses. Most recommended "fast glass" to use depth of field close to isolate the person and the environment. Also beware of the church 13-D (dark, opaque, sad …) with non-flash standards. The D80 has very good high ISO capability, but you'll want fast glass – the 50/1.8 is good, 1.4 better in low light, and you may find the 85/1.8 or 1.4 required for added scope (if not let you use flash, good chance I do not want to go up around the altar, either). The 24-70/2.8 was mentioned, but 24 mm can not be wide enough for group shots. The 17-55/2.8 is also a popular target for professionals in the wedding. You may want to rent these lenses before sinking a lot of money on lenses.
